It isn’t always obvious on college admissions office websites, but international students (non-US citizens or permanent residents) should expect to have to submit additional documents with their admissions applications. These often have to do with citizenship and visa information as well as confirmation of financial resources. International students will likely be required to submit a copy of a passport photo page as well as an International Student Certification of Finances form whether or not the student is applying for financial aid. (The Certification of Finances form is different at each college and is used to confirm international students have the financial resources to afford an institution with or without financial aid.) Make sure you are aware of the requirements of all institutions on your application list and submit these documents as soon as possible to complete your application file. In most cases, your application will not be considered complete without these additional documents.
