Yesterday, the Supreme Court released its ruling for ‘Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin,’ a case arguing against the constitutionality of race-conscious admissions practices. The court upheld UT Austin’s race-conscious admissions policies which, in turn, means other colleges and universities can continue to consider race in the holistic review of college admissions applications. However, the court left the door open to future consideration by telling UT Austin that it has an “ongoing obligation to engage in constant deliberation and continued reflection regarding its admissions policies.”
